What I was going for in this picture is to have the float look like it is leaning on the building. The alterations I made was to raise the temperatue of the picture. The reason I did that is to make it seem like a more warm and inviting picture. I also cropped out the left part of it since it had the sky which added nothing to the picture.

This is a pirate ship that I have and what I did with this picture to make it look cooler was put water in one of my plates and made ripples in the water for extra effect. What I was trying to do is make the water more blue since people couldn't tell it was water and I sharpened the picture to give it a little more detail.

This is a picture of one of my nieces and I made sure not to center it so it wouldn't look boring. I took it so that there would be a tree to the right just to add a little extra to the picture. I only made very subtle changes such as trying to take out as many shadows as I could in it. I also slightly changed the color of the trees just so she would stick out a little more.

Nature

What I did with this picture is make it so that the white flower would stand out. I added a glow to it to make a dreamy effect. I also made the green greener because the plants looked a little dry to me.

Action

ISO: 1600
Aperture: f8.0
Shutter speed: 1 sec
Camera: Canon EOS REBEL T3
Lens information: EF-S18-55mm

With this picture I wanted to work with a dark picture. The reason I have this one as a action picture is because there is no action like fire. I used a rock and hand sanitizer to make a dark picture seem more interesting. I figured if I placed the sanitizer in the right spots it would make it interesting. The end product is the face of a ghost that looks like its screaming.

My Choice 1

ISO: 100
Aperture: f11
Shutter speed: 1/400
Camera: Canon EOS REBEL T3
Lens information: EF-S18-55mm

What I was trying to do with this picture is get a good positon so that it was just the dragon in it. I was going for a majestic look for it with no people in it, I took it a the Indy 500 parade. With the alterations I made the sky slightly brighter and the dragon slightly more gold. I also used photoshop to take out the lamp post and a spot that was on my camera lens.

My Choice 2

ISO: 100
Aperture: f4.5
Shutter speed: 1/100
Camera: Canon EOS REBEL T3
Lens information: EF-S18-55mm

What I was trying to do in this picture is capture my nieces love for the kittens. In the picture I took out as much of the white that I could from the white cat because it took away the detail. I slightly changed the color of the beads on there head to stand out just a little more. I tried to bring out the color of the cats but didn't have success with that.

My Choice 3

ISO: 800
Aperture: f20
Shutter speed: 1/200
Camera: Canon EOS REBEL T3
Lens information: EF-S18-55mm

What I did in this picture is try to angle the cars and the building in a slanted way. I thought the building in the background would add to the picture because it looked interesting and the two cars aligned the way they were was good. In the picture I added more color to the building so it didn't look so dull. I add a little extra shine to the front car but I did not have the same look with the back car.

Best photos so far

The reason I think these are some of my best photos is because they look like they could be nice background pictures. I don't remember what kink of camera I used for any of them.

The camera I'm using for the class is a Canon Rebel T3.

What I would like to see in NEWM 485

What I want from this class is my improvement in taking pictures. I would like to also be able to edit them in a semi professional manner just so I can have pictures of the cool things I see in life. I would also like to see what the RAW format is all about and see if its something I would like to work with.

Capstone Exploration Reflection

Interview questions.
I asked Liz Crichlow about her capstone and what she did was an internship at KENRA as tech support since last week of July.
1. What has this week been like for you?
A. It's been stressful because she has also been doing finals.
2. If you could change anything in how you did your capstone, what would it be?
A. She would chage the daily experiences that she had on her poster because she just gabbed them out of her journal.
3. How close is the final outcome to what you originally thought it would be?
A. She would have liked more experience with servers and networks.
4. If you had one more month to work on the project what would you do?
A. Nothing, she said everything went well.
5. What advice do you have for me about working on my capstone?
A. Do an internship and do not procrastinate.

Reflection of Capstone
1. Address the efficacy of the approach we took in this class.
I learned some things about capstone by having the guest speakers and going to the capstones. It also helped that we had to start thinking about it early and get mentors.
2. Discuss whether or not the breakdown of the project development was advantageous.
Its nice to have a breakdown of the project but it doesn't help when you don't follow the schedule because you have other things to do.
3. Discuss the advanges and/or disadvantages of the student guest speakers for forming your own approach to capstone.
The thing I got out of the guest speakers is that it would have been much better to have know what capstones were sooner and had an idea earlier. The bad thing that I got from them is that basically if you have not started on you capstone like a year prior then your capstone will be just OK.
4. Were there any assignments that you thought were particularly helpful? Please elaborate.
Making us get a mentor was a great idea because it would have been really hard to get one at the last minute.
5. Were there any assignments that you thought were particularly useless? Please elaborate.
In a way the secondary mentor thing was pointless for some people because there was no need in my case.

Project Development Issues

Time management issues: I'm bad at it so I have to come up with a hard schedule. I will base it on a weekly to do list.
Skills needed: The skills I'm looking at that I need for this is web development, flash, php, and game story line development. I might also need to know how to use javascript. The good thing about those skills is that I have a base for all of them.
Resources needed: The resources I need are available to me free of charge for the most part. I will need resources on how to do some things with the various languages so I can use Linda a source for that and my mentor will know about the languages also.
Budget: I don't see this project as really costing money unless I need to pay to put my work online for people to see. Otherwise my budget will be about $500.
Team issues: I don't foresee any issues with any team that I have as of now.
Other issues: One of the issues I'm having is coming up with a way to have the game that is not incredibly imposing as the user navigates the site. But I don't want it to be easy either. The other issue is the content on the page but I can wait to cover that because my main purpose is to get the point across for a new way of browsing the web.

Secondary Mentor

For secondary mentor I was thinking of two people outside of the New Media faculty. Those people are Michele Roberts and Andy Harris. I have had classes with both of them and they are really familier with the programming languages that I will be using such as PHP and JavaScript. It will also be helpful to have secondary mentors out side of New Media to get a different point of view on my Capstone.
